@derricklanders1921 . . .shut up do nothing know it all. Even engineers are clueless nerds. I worked with them in Auto Mfg. and most of them were idiots that wanted to spend $10,000 for a $10 fix. Engineers are also very narrow minded and suffer from tunnel vision. I "earned" my degree almost 3 decades ago (2 majors and a minor) and realized back then much of what we were learning was watered down and useless. I can't imagine how bad it is now along with all the Left wing indoctrination that is taking place. Most careers, even white collar, can be learned on the job. Most of what students think they might have learned in college is forgotten by the time next semester rolls around. Most students just study in order to get a good grade on the upcoming exam and retain a fraction of the subject matter. And usually what they retain is now common knowledge that could be learned in a few classes while working in that field. College has no way to determine supply and demand within the market for any particular job/field. Hence the reason why 70%, or whatever % it is, find employment outside their major. Most professors have no clue on the real world in regards to employment and career because they're insulated in a bubble of tenure, unions, seniority, etc. Most don't work in the real world at real jobs. I can go on and on about how terrible of a deal college is for most kids. . . I've been talking about it for over 15 years. Also, many skilled trades make much more than white collar employees. Heck, I have friends that work plumbing, HVAC, electricians, lineman, etc. that make more than my boss. I know plenty that make well into the 6 figures. You really need to get a clue and be a little less narrow minded.

@derricklanders1921 . . . "OVERCHARGING". . . are you talking about COLLEGE TUITION! LOL. The irony. And the sad thing is, is that the Federal Government is instrumental in helping colleges overcharge by pretending to "help" those less fortunate with financial aid, grants, etc. All that "help" from the Federal Government just contributes to college tuition rising faster than cost of living increases in other areas of the economy.

@derricklanders1921 . . . you must be a moron to not realize that a plumber needs to charge a fee to just come out to review a potential job. There is no such thing as a free lunch or a free "come out to your house and see what needs to be fixed". And you say you have your college degree? That's basic economics.

@lyndenhovell7997 . . completely agree. I worked in automotive industry and I've come to realize most engineers are educated idiots. These engineers need to work in the field before they study the engineering of it. Once they figure out what field they like they can then further their education in that particular field of engineering. I also apply that logic with government workers. I think government workers should work 10+ years in the private sector to know what real work is and how their laws affect the private sector.

@derricklanders1921 . . . nothing is Free dummy! Not everyone needs to go to college nor should everyone go to college. Actually, there are far too many people going to college right now. I "earned" my degree almost 30 years ago and I realized then that a lot of college is a joke. I also have many friends that don't have their degree and they easily make 6 figures. I think skilled trades is a better route for most people. A student might be smart enough to go to college for Engineering, but they might be cut from the cloth of being an electrician and eventually starting their own business. College has no way to determine supply and demand of any particular field. They try, but they get it wrong many times. I can go on and on about all the flaws with higher "education". It's an outdated model at this point.
