  1. It sounds like you're describing data models versus event models. In a data model, only blobs of data are returned from microservices; no actual operations are performed. IMHO, data models aren't microservice architectures; they are databases. Having said that, my system utilizes both with no distinction enforced between the services. Time will tell if my bet is right, but so far, so good....
