  1. I'm sure someone else has also mentioned this,but the most common translation of Sputnik is, um, satellite. 'Fellow traveler' is the poetic translation....mind you, Russian is a beautifully poetic language, so both can be perfectly valid translations. (I have a degree in Russian AND Linguistics, as well as being a proud space nerd. Translation of Russian Poetry was SOO COOOL!)
