Glass artists often wear safety goggles which use neodymium to cancel out the sodium flare in the glass they are working. I have a pair, because I've done warm glass working. It makes a surprisingly large difference.

1:10 Starting in 1988, my family went to Corning almost every summer until I was out of university. I remember seeing the exhibits they had on the earliest versions of fiber optic glad, and at the time they seemed ridiculously futuristic. It seemed like a pie in the sky concept. Imagine today's world without Corning, without borosilicate glass, without fiber optics, without touchscreens??! Ok, I'm going to finish watching the video now.

@RoadHead62 they are already sending down drone miniature submarine vehicles, some have YouTube channels. It's just really expensive, so there aren't many. Hopefully in the future there will be more.

The East German Superfest, while important, was actually a chemical process to mimic Pyrex, which was invented at Corning in the 1910s. Ok, I really am going to watch the rest of the video, because he may explain this more.
