11:35 small point: Ella's parents could not have been legally married at that time. Interracial marriages were not legalized in Virginia until Loving vs Virginia on June 12, 1967. Incidentally, I've always thought they must have taken the Loving's case partly because their name was just so perfect for the public face of the trial.

Β @Layra.wawa1234Β not sure why, but my explanation of pansexuality was deleted. It's not about attraction to certain body types or genders. It's about being attracted to a person. The reason this is different from bisexuality is that bisexuality presumes a binary, an A vs. B choice. The difference might be subtle to someone who doesn't feel this way, but it is different. There are, however, many who use the terms interchangeably. I don't typically feel that using such modern terms for historical figures makes sense, but in this ONE case, it does seem to fit.

Right? π You should hear the stories about when Rasputin was killed. I've been in the room where they had the 'dinner party' at the Yusupov Palace, it's a weird sort of shrine to the unwashed dude with the crazy eyes.

The Russians are at least as dramatic, if not more, so really either court is rich pickings for story time π

8:20 Incognito my butt, that's like saying a national leader today was traveling incognito. His preferred language was German, in which he was fluent, sure, but he was well over six feet tall and very striking in his appearance. "Incognito" is doing serious heavy lifting here. It's more accurate to say that he wasn't making a fanfare of his travels. The courts he visited were well aware of his identity.

I have a Master's Degree in Russian history, language, and culture. I lived in St. Petersburg for several years in my youth. I do actually know what I'm talking about here....

YAAS, QUEENS!!!

I mean, ravens teach their chicks to continue vendettas against people that do them wrong. Add that to the incest....

βΒ @Lucy-uf6oiΒ It has more to do with personality than body or gender. You are attracted to people, not specific types of bodies or genders. That's why it's different, and in this case, though it's often virtually impossible to say about historical figures, I would agree with the usage of pansexual.

Paul was all kinds of an idiot.

βΒ @drdst27Β It's pretty well documented (I've read some of the originals, from the period) that people thought Paul was a complete fool and unfit to rule. Catherine was pulling a QEII and protecting the throne as long as she could from someone who was going to make a complete mess of everything. His death...well, that's a bit more complicated.
