We have peafowl. Watching peafowl, especially while listening/watching programs such as this, will leave one in no doubt that they are, indeed, dinosaurs. Or, since they are quite clever, rambunctious, silly, and only one year old, I call them my dinosaur puppies.
Watching peafowl makes it easy to see how the transition from feathered but land animal to feathered and flighted mug have happened. Peafowl are not flightless, and their trains make little to no difference in their flying skills.... but it's almost like they forget that they can fly half the time, and they run instead. It can be highly entertaining.
