Also may I say that these people 99% of times refer to America and you're talking about the UK, obviously different placea plus the UK was just out of being bombed for 6 years, I don't think they were very good economycally. Most things were worse back then, but saying everything was worse is dishonest, as some things have become worse and we should be trying to fix them not dismissing them or thinking that "go back" is the solution. A couple of things like prices or architecture was better but so many more things and more important were a lot worse, you could bring out disease and war, which killed many people.
