Hello Josh. I just wanted to suggest a theme for a video, about my language, Asturian or Asturleonese, there aren't a lot of native speakers left, it's the only romance language with neuter gender. You could also talk about the Vaqueiros, their old lifestyle that dates back to pre-roman celtic tribes, their very unique dialect with a weird phoneme in that area, and the very unknown genocide attempt against them.

I'm native speaker of an endangered language, though I don't usually speak it , because it's shameful. I hope Ainu can recover, to all Ainu speakers or just residents of Hokkaido. Fight for your tongue! Don't let your ancestral heritage die!

In Spanish is plátano, I wonder where it comes from.

I'm a speaker of Asturleonese, and I can understand Old Spanish pretty well, better than an only Spanish speaker. Interesting that my language kept many things that fell in Spanish. Like "ca" is still used or we didn't aspirate the f's (facer, faba, fartar...) or the position of the object behind the verb (fálase, cóyelo, píngeste), it's also the only romance language which kept Neuter.

If you speak Asturleonese like me, it's even easier.

The Ç (cedilla in Spanish) was used in Old Spanish to represent /ts/ which turned into /th/ (çapato - zapato). Also, in Eastern dialects of my language, Asturian, this sound can be found in the "brañas vaqueiras" instead of ll, it was historically represented by ç.

@amacibiki Maybe but where did the n go? I've heard a theory they come from the world for silver (Plata) because they were so expensive and valued, but this is more a folk etymology than anything else.

@Lamajmassar Yeah, we basically started the Reconquista only to be ignored today by Spain. :/
1
@Lamajmassar We don't want a revolution, or an uprising or anything really, we are Spanish but we want our language to have the same rights as Spanish or other languages like Galician or Basque.

Spanish has all of those skills plus functional conjugation

@2boysyou2be Most people in Spain say Castellano

@hadhamalnam The language probably the most similar to that Romance is Galician or Asturian, probably more Galician since it doesn't have as many diphthongs.
