Comments by "Daniel Daniels" (@danieldaniels7571) on "Why are we still widening highways in US cities?" video.
I was also thinking that. It seems very disingenuous to leave that information out.

@herlescraft the purpose of the highways is to service the cities so that goods can be delivered to and from them.

Yes, it’s funny how this video completely focuses on Austin and neglects to mention that I-35 is a major shipping corridor from Mexico to Minneapolis.
5
@historythyme if those other freeways were built, the congestion on 1-35 wouldn’t be so bad.
5
@thomasaly7624 thankfully noise canceling headphones are a thing
4
Which is exactly why it needs expanded over the objections of the complaining NIMBYs in Austin.
4
@pattyeverett2826 That could actually be a perfect solution, as long as the entire resulting route was redesignated as I-35. Since the toll road is operated by a private company it doesn’t seem to be looked at as an option, though.
4
redesignating that toll road as I-35 is the no-brainer solution that no one seems to be looking at. Because this really isn’t about Austin, it’s about the fact that I-35 is a major international trucking corridor.
3
What this video neglects to mention and you seem oblivious to is that most of the traffic on I-35 has nothing to do with Austin because it is a major international shipping route.
3
@neutrino78x as if voting Biden has worked out well for anyone.
3
This video conveniently leaves out that I-35 is an international shipping route.

@mike140298 I love living next to freeways. It allows me to be able to drive to other places quickly because I can jump right on the freeway without having to mess with much surface street traffic.
2
That’s how I-10 is through downtown Phoenix and it’s really nice.
2
Yep. These anti-car channels seems to not understand how goods get to and from their cities.
2
I don’t know anybody who wants to take public transportation
2
@NachDeaDSilenT it’s the only solution that over 90% of Texans are willing to accept, though.
2
Shhh… Don’t go throwing facts at this anti-car propaganda
2
@AlCatSplat perhaps not, but many places have solved their congestion problems by building additional highways and roads.
2
@texaswunderkind The more I read and learn about that road the more I appreciate ADOT and living in Arizona. Our freeways are pretty damn good here, and are all freeways; no toll roads.
2
@Game_Hero I’m riding the bus because my car has been broken down for the last month, and there are fights all the time on the busses. It’s not a safe place for children, and hardly anyone is on there by choice.
1
The geography of the area prohibits it

He also continently neglects to mention that I-35 is a busy international shipping route. It was built for the amount of traffic that was on it over 50 years ago, and the population along the length of it has increased exponentially. Expanding it to accommodate the traffic on it now is the only sensible solution.

@shadeblackwolf1508 facts aren’t something that you can disagree with.

Yeah… he looks like a kid to me

@neutrino78x 🤣
