You guys need to understand, these coal miners voted for Trump because Hillary offered them nothing. If Bernie had been the Democratic nominee, no doubt, they would have voted for him. At least he campaigned for a single payer health care system and a jobs plan.

Jerry Seiden agree with you. I think a lot of folks are not informed and most of it falls into name recognition or what the media tells them. people tend to vote with their emotions vs. a candidate's platform. for this gentleman, it was clear that he voted with his emotions. Trump gave him that one tiny ray of hope that he is still holding onto. he's not the only one, unfortunately.

Storm the only position I have is this: the folks holding the powers want the people to fight with each other, so we will be too distracted to see what they're doing. you're still stuck in the all or nothing stage, I can understand, but there comes a time when you have to learn that calling people names and making enemies with people you don't agree with, achieves nothing and only deepens the chasms that divide us. politics will go on as usual as long as we are divided. compassion and understanding each other will help us in the long term of achieving our common goals.

Storm you sound bitter. go take a nap.
2
Storm you're arguing for the sake of arguing. go take a nap.
2
Storm the blame game is pointless. you'll come around.

RenΓ© Moncayo I didn't throw anyone under the bus with my comment. Just because I didn't smear these folks doesn't mean I smeared those who aren't them.

Nice2347 I think a lot of these coal miners know that coal's not going to be around for long. Bernie had a plan for renewable energy that would have provided jobs in that area for them to transition into. Also, I'm not going to go around calling Republicans racists and closed minded because I want people to come together to find a solution. You achieve nothing by calling names.

Justin Vavala Trump is terrific at sales. And we can thank the media for giving him so much free air time.

Cheryl Ernst Trump promised to not touch Medicare or social security, and he promised that everyone would have healthcare. Those were his strongest selling points of his campaign besides building the wall and bringing jobs to America. I think that's why many folks were blind to the Republican agenda.

guitarista67 well, your candidate should have done a better job at appealing to these folks. not everyone is smart and educated about the politicians and their platforms. they need to see the candidates and hear them speak on the issues that matter most to them.

Beaste Meauxde I don't understand why you're disagreeing with me for, I'm just explaining why they voted for Trump, based on what I've heard from West Virginians. I don't know what kind of ads Hillary was running in that state, but 40% of her ads nationally were attacking his character. So that tells me that most of them probably didn't know what her policies were compared to Trump's. Besides that, Hillary is very disliked by Republicans so the point I made about them voting with their emotions is a valid point. I'm not defending anyone's decision, because if I could have my way, we would have different political leaders, but I can understand why they voted the way they did.

Storm well, maybe you should use those talking points to lecture all the voters in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania and see how that goes. because they all went red. the error is not in the voters, but the candidate. I'm sorry to break it to you, but her strategy to win votes failed. you can get mad at everyone as much as you want, but it doesn't change the fact that her failure to court these voters ended up with Trump as our president.

Stringer Bell hey, perhaps she did, but that was not the message I was getting from the few West Virginians that I came across. maybe she just wasn't likable enough for them to listen to or that she wasn't convincing enough.
