@E: If you move to a country, you’ve done so because it benefits you. The country has a right to expect you to behave in a certain way in return, or tell you to go to another country. While assimilation is abstract, if you immigrate to a country and they ask you to serve in the military, but you refuse, the country should have the right to deny you entrance into the country. While “assimilation” is vaguely defined, the country can otherwise have specific requirements that you, as an emigrating citizen, should fulfill if you wish to live in that country.

@h: Agreed. Just imagine a European immigrating into a Middle Eastern Muslim country and refusing to follow their religion or customs. He’d have at least three body parts chopped off in a week!
