  3. An ISIS attack shouldn‘t be too unexpected. Russia has been sending ethnic minorities to the front while those in Moscow and St. Petersburg have been insulated from the war. Russia also attacked Afghanistan. Just because the West has a short memory and doesn’t remember what happened last year, other cultures have long-standing grudges lasting generations.

The ISIS attack in Moscow, the Wagner March, and Russian separatist repeated invasion (despite Russian claims that Belgorod‘s security was increased) clearly shows that Russia has no internal defenses left — some ex-Wagner soldiers even joined the separatists. A perverse result of decreasing USA support is that the EU is providing more aid to Ukraine, Ukraine can attack Russia internally (with the USA denying responsibility as shown by its declining aid to Ukraine), and USA can advance as a superpower because of its increasing energy independence. Nations have no permanent friends, only common interests.
