A YT economics video, possibly a William Spaniel one, explained that developed countries eventually adopt service-oriented econonies. Manufacturing ones are constantly under competition from other countries that have cheaper labor. China arguably had more impact on Mexico‘s economy than the USA.

I remember a decade ago China saying they would increase domestic speding, and, last year, that China would focus on manufacturing (after kicking out foreign companies). Wealthy are also taking their wealth and families out for decades. When I was at Stanford thirty years ago, Asians were already buying houses there for their children, essentially sending their future generations to Western countries.
