So this was common for Japanese companies? Is that why Japan has had a multiple-generation recession? I know USA‘s quantitative easing encouraged companies to make riskier investments, including stocks, so it‘s not just Japan. Keep up the videos! Thanks for the video!

Me : Oboy! I got a roomba! Also me: Damn thing chocked under the bed, again. As an early Roomba consumer, I think its problem was that you had to clean up the rooms and make barriers to prevent the Roomba from “getting stuck”. If I could do that (: I might as well just vacuum. When you vacuum, this tidying up is broken down into “tidying as you go” when you can‘t vacuum somewhere, and you have more motivation (eg. closing the door to get to that clump of dust on the floor). Like too many technologies, the Roomba is stuck on the “enthusiast” stage, of owners who don’t mind the various inconveniences of the Roomba (including cleaning out the dust cup and tangling in the brushes — ugh). I suspect Roombas will work much better for business environments that are not as cluttered as consumer, such as office hallways and factory floors. Of course, the sensors and collision detection technology itself can be applied to more than just cleaning bots, so iRobot has some sort of contribution to our future robot overlords!

Stop spending money on stuff you don‘t need. Not only do you help the environment, but you have more savings for emergencies and retirement.

So far, robots have only been able to work in “safe” environments, such as office campuses (eg. Google‘s drones), hospitals (Stanford’s prescription drug robot), warehouses (eg. Amazon‘s robots), etc. Where there are security issues (or humans, such as the self-driving cars in SF, whose sensors were defeated by traffic cones placed by those who were opposed to the cars), robots can — so far — be defeated. I still wouldn’t mind a Johnnycab. :D
