  1. EU needs to be independent of the USA. USA’s “help” comes at a cost — you’re gonna listen and obey the USA or we’ll pull the funding. Don’t naively think that the USA is the world’s police out of the good of its own heartless heart. USA does this to exercise soft power for its interests.
