  5. 17:30 : CA fire alarms must have batteries built-into the fire alarms because, yes, someone took out the batteries of a smoke alarm b/c of false alarms in their house (I’m not clear if this was a rental or they owned the house) and died in a fire. We got as far as putting up a nail in the kitchen and hanging a fire alarm on it, to see if it would have any false alarms. And it‘s only high enough that I can reach it so I can easily test the alarm. Hope I haven’t done something that would kill me, though. Thanks for the video!

  6. Any kids nowadays (: know what an octopus plug is? Us OK Boomers regularly saw psa‘s warning us about them as kids, and you don’t see those sort of plugs anymore!

  8. The newfangled (: design doesn‘t play with tuna fish cans. The old design lets you press down the “lid” into the tuna, so you can squeeze out the water or oil. We also have a newer can opener, but all it’s done is made me realize how few non-tuna cans we open in the house…!

  9. Excellent video. I just saw the smoke alarm video, another “but sometimes”. I definitely like your opinionated rants, after decades of “fair and balanced” reporting that‘s become bland and unable to engage in discussing common sense.

  10. The Japanese have the kotatsu, essentiallly a heater underneath a table and a cover for the table. And this traps in heat. And pet lovers know that a dog (and sometimes a cat) will be happy to sit in your lap with a blanket. Thanks for the video!
