Diatribe: Starting in 2023, Medicare will have to cap the cost of insulin so that beneficiaries (people eligible for Medicare) do not pay more than $35 per month, regardless of whether or not they have met their deductible. KHN: The $35 copay for injectable insulin products takes effect Jan. 1, and July 1 for patients who use an insulin pump.

They won’t pay more than $35 a month for each insulin prescription that’s covered by their Medicare Part D plan. And they won’t be subject to a deductible for insulin.
