  1. Most ridership and accumulated mileage is China HSR due to its massive network and population. You can't compare zero crash in Japan to only one crash in China. It's like comparing zero crash for Malawi Airlines to one crash for Singapore Airlines

  2. That's democracy... Deal with it.. High speed rail need more or less straight track.. But in democratic India, there are many curves to minimize land acquisition... Government calculate the number of votes at stake.
