  1. It all started with Obama military pivot to Asia Pacific in 2011. This was 2 years before Xi Jingping came to power. Xi responded by militarizing the disputed islands. This was the least China should do to protect itself. Sovereignty issue of these disputed islands is secondary issue. The core issue is China national security facing Obama pivot and 350 US military bases in Japan, Korea, Philippines and Australia. So if a hundred Pinoy fishermen are denied fishing near those islands. So what. National security of 1,4 billion Chinese are more important than a hundred Pinoy jobs. Same as what happened in 1950s when US sacrificed 10,000 islanders of a Pacific Island in a nuclear EXPERIMENT due to possible nuclear war with USSR. National security of 250 millions Americans were more important than the lives of 10000 islanders. At least these Pinoys are still alive and not dying of cancer like these 10000 islanders
