At that time Chinese policemen were not equipped with Riot Gear. In videos we can see they controlled the crowd barehanded, no shields or batons. This is the reason why the tanks were deployed but there is no footage to really show that the tanks really roll on the protestors. In US Policemen though well equipped with Riot Gears are also armed with guns and don't hesitate to shoot and kill. Every year police in US kill 20,000 people in duty, many innocents

That happened 32 years ago. Is there any video footage showing indiscriminate shooting. If I am a rioter, I would be more scared of 50 armed policemen with guns than a few tanks. A tank has to come close to knock you, while a policeman can shoot you 50 metres distance. In US though they are well equipped with RIOT gear, pepper powder, tear gas, they are also equipped with Guns. Every year police in US kill 20000 in duty.
