@mangles1044 because the military owned it, it's a military company As you know that communication is important for the military, so they create Viettel (possibly to be used to communicate during combat when the war with china inevitably happens) Ironic enough that the military done telecommunications a lot better than the government as the VNPT flop hard (you probably don't even know about its existence in the first places)

@TranHungDao. That's just because the Chinese military is literally that bad as they practically have no autonomy (Order from higher command has to be follow despite the constant change in the battlefield conditions, and they don't like to fight outside of official fighting time like it's a job or something)

Well. That was due to corruption and lack of maintenance so the core product was probably just fine for now until Vietnam decided to use western equipment instead as they do aimed to buy some C-130 from the US (Even built a runway that's long enough for it in the middle of the south china sea)

I doubt that those would be much useful other than being museum pieces
