I got excited at first you were going to say you had a ham radio license and were going to show off a software defined Radio app. :) Shortwave radio: the OG G streaming service. ;)

I still use the 'Hit the enter key' as a direction when supporting end users. Apparently I am that old. :)

The idea with the slot for swappable drives is a good one! running LMDE on one machine and the flagship one on the other. No complaints. No real end user differences I suspect if someone were to pick it up and use it. Worth a go.

When I was a kid in the early 70s, my dad would bring me and my brother into work at the university when he had to go in for a few hours on the weekend. Occasionally that meant a visit to the computer machine room. Once, to keep me entertained, he had an operator make for me a dot matrix print out of the profile of TOS USS Enterprise. It was printed out on probably a dozen or more fan folded large format light green/white striped paper for massive spreadsheets. Made a great banner. After watching your video, I found the university has some photos online of the old computer rooms of that era including one showing a large a dot matrix printer. :)

How Bondi blue cool is that. Nicely done. It was too early for them, but I always thought the iMac would benefit from some tasteful LEDs under the back translucent cover. Not sure if it could be done on such a machine natively though.

I have used several earlier versions of Mint with the Cinnamon DE. Last with Tara v.19 (Ubuntu 18.04 ) and quite liked it. I installed it on a now 10 year old Thinkpad. Only issue I had was the bluetooth would keep disconnecting. Encryption, and Warpinator v KDE connect videos would be good. And hey, cross your fingers one of the next point releases could be 'Veronica'. And that would be awesome. :)

AS/400? PDP11? Now that's awesome. That looked like a pretty big event. I haven't seen anything like that locally.

Netscape was the style for the time for sure. :) And that is a cool way to get introduced to open source.

sudo apt-get more Lil' Linux Lesson. ;) If you are going to cover the sudoers file, then perhaps some sudo syntax too?

and I do some end user support for printers where I work. No Dot Matrix. More printer videos like this would be fun. :)

Your disclaimers made me chuckle several times here. One of those Grail keyboards. But as a tool it's a bit steep $$$ to get. I did wonder about the remapping of keys 👍

The Text to speech: Nicely done. Also, in the comment space, challenges with new computers and video drivers, vs older Thinkpads that mostly just work on most distros. Or distros that are best suited on Arm based machines.

I understand, eh.

This was a fun watch. I agree completely about the offline music - or podcasts. I put them on USB and plug them into my car. Phone battery is needed for other things. Will you be installing Debian on a Zune and making it play cassette tapes next? :)

As Indiana Jones learned in the Library while questing for the grail, + does actually mark the spot. :) Never knew that.

To justify it, it would be fun to do a tape drive demo and all the other loading ways... Retro Recipes got an Amiga 500 to use modern email. (It was fun emailing it). Could you get your C64 with Contiki to use email?

@VeronicaExplains see if email64 by jochen alder works?

100k play button is just around the corner. :) Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Exciting times!

I was going to comment the SUSE forking and then sure enough it is in the last few frames in a post credit scene. So at least you know someone watches to the end now and then. :)

To go old school-ish, it's like the different rooms on CompuServe or IRC. Or Digital Talkgroups on DMR, D-Star etc on Ham radio. I hadn't looked into it much aside from thinking of reserving a user ID or handle or whatever it would be called. This was a good primer on it.

I dunno. That Nick guy. With his consistent quality videos. He has to be up to something... with a word from his sponsor. ;)

That's a bossy video, eh.🙃
