@ thanks you for the lesson. the thing is as a kid in school we are tolde very very little about Dutch history in general.

I did not even know we had a colony in Brazil. Unless it's just a part of Brazil directly below what is now Suriname but that is mostly just the amazon rainforest as far as I know. thick enough that it effectively makes Suriname in a island.

@apveening in most cases traffic rules are indeed not written in stone they are written in blood. that was the reason people said hé this is not working well. It might also help that now those very same people growing up with the safer systems are demanding even better.

@ElkRondjeIsAnders11 I attended highschool from 2003 until 2008. But one of the things that was a complain was the lack of that what you apparently did get. So you might have been one of the frist that did get that more. As I still know that back then even in the 2de kamer it was a issue that us children where not told any local history only very global.

@xxfgsdfgadgsgsrgfdsg They did that back in those days in the Netherlands as well. however I could see that if the materials are good that they might consider to reopen that landfill for items like these. there is now quite a market for old bricks not only for roads but also to maintain monuments

@ElkRondjeIsAnders11 in my time in primary (90s) the history they gave us where. ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman time, Middle ages, and then jump to world war two. Same in high school. the going in on actual Dutch history was not common. I know in years later that they did do so but back in those days they just did not go in on any of that.

@esmeraldaweatherwaxe970 mostly funding. If you see the diffrence in the amount of tax collected there you see how here in the Netherlands we do fund it. And understand I am happy to pay knowing what I get back for it.
