@ligametis well even busses can help reducing cars in a city. Here in the Netherlands a lot of the downtown areas are often car free. but public transport busses are still allowed to get with in that centre. A typical bus can hold about 40 to 50 passengers in total. if the bus is full that would remove about 40 cars of the street. (the majority uses there car as a 1 user transport mode). you can remove cars from areas of the US by just banning them from a area but make sure there is a transit point around those areas. (the inner zone would only allow busses, and non car transport. (bikes, walking, skateboard, riksjas, mopeds) you might not be able to do it for a entire city but bigger blokes could work
