  1. My entire country is one big floodplain. we named it the Netherlands. only if you build in a area below the water line make sure that you take the fact of water in what ever you do.

  2.  Águila701  there is no problem with living on a floodplain. As i said in my comment above. My home country is almost complete below the sea level and is intersected by multiple major rivers. The name it self means lower land. Water is one of the few things you can anticipate for years and years in advance. Just prepare for the absolute worst case and make it double as strong as needed.
