  2. or you go the Dutch way. At Amsterdam Schiphol airport you will find a shopping mall in front of the checking area. There are even people that will just go to the shopping mall with out the idea to fly anywhere.

  3. The concept of it being a one person car exist in the Renault Twizy. It does work pretty good for smaller trips.

  4. you could even go for something already proposed (as a compromise of only 2 Olympic locations) go for like 6 (1 per continent.) for the southern continents (hotter in general) go for the summer Olympic cities. for the northern continents go for winter Olympic cities. the upside is that even after or before a event at a particular Olympic location people that do want to compete in the Olympics can train in the fixed venues also for the other years. It would promote that city it self on a more permanent basis that the facilities will be used after a game is over. (it will be back every 12 years at that location) you still can promote your continent to a point.
