  2. The Soviet Union couldn't beat them either. I read somewhere that Afghanistan had never been beaten in its 5000 year history. Tough hombres. Also, what good is a million man army against the US 6,000 miles away? Is the PLA getting swimming lessons in their training? I don't think that they can successfully invade Taiwan 100 miles away, much less the US.

  3. From what I understand if there is a large nuclear exchange no one will survive. Millions will be killed in the initial nuclear attacks and the rest will die over time due to starvation caused from all of the dust thrown up into the atmosphere causing a "nuclear winter" all over the globe. It will be a mass extinction event.

  4. I'm sure that is one reason. Probably 2/3 of the money is stolen along the way, similar to the Russian military plus I think it's there to scare the Chinese public. Remember the tanks in Tiananmen Square? When's the last time you saw tanks in your country's streets unless for a Veteran's Day parade? People can get in a mob fight with sticks and rocks but when a tank shows up with a machine gun on top it is definitely time to go home. @FranzBieberkopf

  9. That fact makes me wonder if the Soviets were all that scary or were just used to increase military funding during the Cold War. Since the USSR is gone another boogey man needed to be be found: China will do.
