  1. I saw a NatGeo documentary years ago that said the true value of diamonds given the supply is about $8 per carat, not $5,000 like in a jew-elry store.

  2.  @kyliemadden5204  Even then there are better ways to buy gold and silver. Coins and bars are a lot better value. With jewelry you are paying for the workmanship which is just a matter of taste, not real intrinsic value.
