  2. It's really just a repackaged pagan winter solstice festival. It celebrates that the days would now be getting longer and Spring was coming. It got co-opted by Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire into a "Christian" holiday. Since it is pagan you would think the CCP would be all for it.
