@goyoelburro solar panels are black because it keeps more photons inside the panel, producing more electricity. They are also shiny which reflects a lot of heat away in non visible wavelengths. In addition, they provide shade to the roof, with an air gap underneath, and shading the roof provides much more benefit than painting the roof white because you are preventing the energy from ever getting to the roof.

@soteriology1012 oh yes, make it more humid! Lol You can't just change the ecosystem and make it rain by putting a big lake there, otherwise it would constantly rain around lakes and rivers and oceans next to deserts.

@AB-vc7ox many roof top solar installations require very little up front. It's a lease basically, and you pay a reduced electric bill to the solar panel company, while they sell the power back to the utility and make a profit off the difference.
