SpaceX gains a lot from this contract, much more than the cash value, because it gives them more access to NASA facilities and resources and personnel to use in development and testing that they may not have in house, and by becoming part of the NASA team, they get a lot of additional support on the Starship project. In addition, they now are politically safer, because instead of being just competitors with SLS/Artemis, they are now on the Artemis team, supporting the mission of Orion and SLS. (which makes them even stronger competition lol)
