In my youth group leader days I had a little device that screwed on in place of the Coleman fuel tank cap, and through the magic of holding a co2 Powerlet cartridge, would let the lantern run unpumped until it ran out of fuel. It had a valve on it to close off the co2 pressure when you wanted to shut down, or needed to refuel.. Very handy for lazy people! Lol I think it was the Crossman Pressure Mate or something like that. It doesn't look like they are readily available anymore, at least not in 30 seconds of work on Google, but it looks like they come across eBay from time to time...

  2. In regards to comparing a modern Coleman Itrium mantle to a Peerless Thorium mantle, I would expect the Peerless to be worse, simply because it's not a Coleman! Lol I believe that if you compared an original Coleman thorium mantle to a modern Coleman Itrium mantle that you would see what was being complained about, because Coleman mantles in my extensive experience, have always been better than off brands. I remember the days of the switch faintly, and I remember that I was unhappy with the new mantles and tried to go to low volume hardware stores and buy up their stock of the old style lol
