Having a larger population means having a larger pool of brain power and funds. For Israel to even crash land on the moon with a budget private non profit team is a force to be reckoned with. No other nation the size of Israel have achieve this much.

Yes a one trick pony, Holland is known for chip making machinery and that is about it. Israel is known as the start-up nation, which means company giants take over Israeli tech companies because of the innovations, creativity and cutting edge technology developed by these Israeli companies.
