@fraochflanagan-km1ou Actually I celebrate Christmas on Dec 15, like the majority of Greeks throughout the world (even though we are Orthodox). It's because the Greek Orthodox Church has adopted the revised Julian calendar. It has to do with accounting for lipear years. On January 6th we celebrate Epiphany (Theofania), or the Blessing of the waters.

@fraochflanagan-km1ou I celebrate Christmas on Dec 25, as most Greeks do (even though we are Orthodox). The Greek Orthodox Church follows the revised Julian calendar (which accommodates for the lipear years). In any case, on January 6, we celebrate Epiphany (Theofania), or the Blessing of the waters. So from Dec 26 to Jan 6, is the twelve days of Christmas!

@fraochflanagan-km1ou Easter (Greek Orthodox that is) is a movable holiday based on solar calculations. Only on lipear years it falls at the same time as Catholic Easter.

@fraochflanagan-km1ou Please don't apologize!!! I'll take your good wishes any time! Thank you, much appreciated. 😊 I wrote the explanation more as community info, because I saw several comments yesterday and today about when Greeks celebrate Christmas! On Dec 27, we celebrate the feast of St. Stephen (tied to the custom of Boxing day, boxing food for the poor) and on January 7, we celebrate the feast of St. John the Baptist. There is a very small minority of Greeks that celebrate Christmas on Jan 7, according to the old calendar (Gregorian).
