@83gt_plus57 because its simple, all you need is a soccer ball and a field and its been around for a while. Basketball you need a court to play at, hockey you need a rink and other stuff, baseball you need a ball, bat and glove atleast.. Soccer is the simplest. Not to mention strength doesn't play much of a factor all you need to be able to do is have decent stamina and foot work. American football all you need is a ball but its very dangerous to play without pads and a helmet whereas soccer you dont need any gear besides maybe if you want cleats. Personally I've tried to watch soccer and it puts me to sleep watching them just run around for hours with barely any scoring. So in my opinion soccer sucks to watch but i think it's a good sport to play because you dont need much besides a ball and it's a good sport to increase you footwork and stamina. Thats why its the most popular
