THIS. IS. NOT. A. LAW. It's not USA, people. It's a converstation starter to get thing rolling, dammit!
299
Quick shot - you can use GPL and then sue CoPilot into oblivion ;)
25
@safairette As typical conversation starter, it should involve more parties than the initial proposer. But, unfortunately, Thor actively denies his presence.
13
@JoseDaviCorreiaPassos Probably won't be for a long time :)
12
As a person who sent that article: I highly suggest checking all of those links, it will make you stop believing in humanity. Really.
11
Eclipse recently, after moving to versions starting with year, is actually pretty solid. PyDev is nice, C/C++ and tons of plugins for embedded development and tons of languages supported in general makes it pretty versatile tool in a pocket :)
11
About Bob Ross - before he went painting, he was really screaming hard in military :)
9
@TheZamphire In this case it's totally reasonable.
9
Helix is coming back so hard, by having more and more plugins adding it's keybindings to editors like VS*ode. Took it from kakoune, a.k.a editor with clippy :P
9
@streettrialsandstuff It's not, really.
8
Prime yaps too much to understand it :P
8
@ITSecNEO C is simple, but not easy.
5
Mercurial is 10x more sane in terms of UX, DX and handling data than git. That's all to know ;)
5
D and Nim ;)
5
About your take on power to say no/pushback. Yes, they can pushback, until some product manager comes out and says "I am pm and do as I say" ;)
5
It's already there, called Nim ;)
4
Mercurial at least does not allow easily to shit in your history
3
@joseoncrack Exactly, hence why I don't get Primes "you use rebase wrong" - if there's any other way than proper one to handle rebase, your tool is not UX friendly with regards to rebase.
3
CPUs don't have anything in here, since vision = powerful GPUs But even when CPUs, still you can mine monero, which is really efficient on CPU side :)
3
@lucyinchat it was shown not to be.
3
Servo is alive, with Verso reference implementation.
3
Kate is really great for programming editing purposed, plus Kate can use vim keybindings without plugins. Problem with kate is with... LSP. It have sometimes few issues, like there's no way to have more than 1 LSP running for language in Kate, even multi-lsp-proxy don't work.
3
Cookie warnings are malicious compliance attempt and should be outlawed into oblivion.
3
Where enums exist in Python, natively xD Just more sophisticated serialization/deserialization engine based on JSON
3
You mean that their ChatGPT'd license is wrong? Nice :D
2
What if cis-het will be underrepresented in Rust usage? Will they apply 'DEI' here or just be honest and say quiet part out loud? :v
2
You got innocently trolled with list comprehension, kek xD. For python in general, it's worth learning. A lot. You can do a lot of things with python, not only AI/Science/Tooling. If you like open/end tokens, then you would love Ada :D. For type annotations in python - they're really 'welded onto language' instead of feeling like they belong here in any way, shape or form.
2
Mercurial is decentralized, just does not allow to shoot yourself in the foot with history like git. It sounds like SVN/CVS/TFS environment :)
2
@TehGhostWhoPlay If usa people invested more than 5s of their time to understand how things in EU work, then it would not end up so mangled as it is currently.
2
Star in proc name is NOT pointer - it means that this proc is exported outside of module. For pointers, you need to use 'ref' ;)
2
@dts1845 It was obvious from Ross voice that it was clearly sarcastic/cynical.
2
Java faster than C? Well, check in what Matlab is written and why it's so heck fast :)
2
@diadetediotedio6918 Well, freedom for selling azbest for example? It's not such black-and-white like you try to paint it.
2
As of DRY - It does not need to be dry as desert. Just dry enough :)
2
Bro picked Zig, when Nim beats it to the core, lol :D
2
And disliked + unsubbed for disliking gpl :)
2
Zed? You mean lapce side-baby?
2
@PaulSebastianManole Not only he, but quite a few fellows, Prime himself as well. About Mob programming, TDD and design first.
2
And with that video, Prime officially entered "The one who shall not be named" board, alongside Lunduke. Read more about it, you just entered warzone with that ;) But, to be frank, I applaud that you covered this wild history. Everybody should step up and oppose such things in open source space.
2
@JonathanTheZombie grep -r "unsafe" . | wc -l
2
If you want to hack around willy-nilly, just make personal Open Source projects and flood them with commits :)
2
Reasoning about name and branding works not only for games. This should be applied EVERY-FRICKIN-WHERE.
1
Hilarious parody to the max, but definitely you lack that real experience how it really is in corporations ;)
1
Geany sucks by today standards. No proper LSP support, project plugin with hardcoded ctags cli flags. Kate eats it from the start, even if it have it's own issues, like only one LSP per language (multi-lsp-proxy don't work since Kate does not support workspace/Symbol or something like this from spec) and not differentiating on file extensions, which makes using ada lang server( supports ada and gpr project files, but gpr with a switch) or python lsp server other than python-lsp-server without plugins a chore
1
To be honest, I'd pick mercurial even without RIIR (Rewriting it in Rust) @monad_tcp

You can use TDD everywhere, but you can't test everything, that was his point. I'm doing TDD privately, rather it's slight mutation, called AMDD - Agile Modeling Driven Development. It solves step with designing your solution by trying to model it first in whatever you want, be it SysML, UML or something else. And yes, TDD IMHO should look integration-lookalike to be most useful. Maybe you should look at his practical videos where he refactored code in java or wrote small fizzbuzz with TDD?
1
@georgerogers1166 AGPL too, which is GPL but designed for networked services
1
X++, language for Microsoft Dynamics 365, kek
1
Rabbit broke GPL v2, just like 50%+ other android companies. Nothing burger.
1
You're overselling people ability to solve problems. We can do stuff, but I think you're too biased by your own mixture of survivorship bias and confidence of your own skills. Plus, What you're referring to being a junior dev, it's closer to mid dev ;)
