  1. Additionally, about open sourcing stuff - they open sourced launchpad, yet nobody gives a damn coin, so they don't open source snapcraft backend if nobody will use it in this form ;)

Only problem with snaps and snapped OS like Ubuntu Core I have, is that when building OS image, you need to use their services to log-into OS via SSH and building with signing image you need connection to Ubuntu and Snapcraft. Other than that I don't have issues with snaps, because you can just simply download .snap over HTTP and install locally, with --dangerous flag :)
