Regarding the 2022-2023 time lag of Covid deaths: bear in mind that due to their draconian lockdowns throughout what we think of as the Covid pandemic, it is very possible that large portions of their population were not exposed during what we think of as the pandemic period; and thus their death toll could be later. Alternatively it is also possible that they did not allow people to gather for funerals during the lockdowns, so people may have had funerals well afterward, ie the deaths may not have been on that timeline but were captured in data on that timeline.

@ the mortality rate could go down and yet mortalities go up due the massive increase in exposure. They literally went from locking people into apartment buildings, to zero restrictions or protections around that time. During their lockdown people literally died in an apartment building fire because the doors would not open, so the population went from near zero exposure to high exposure very quickly.
