  1. Thinking is of course the ultimate aim (which is why most successful experimental schools, the world over, are eventually closed by governments). Self determined education, which is enjoyable is always and inevitable much more successful than a prescribed curriculum. The one major flaw in Locke's ideas is his lack of appreciation of the place of emotion. Young children learn through their emotions, and adult reasoning is always influenced by emotion, often blinded by emotion.
