  1. Clare Wise in the Guardian complained bitterly about the hardship of farming, a way of life and it’s essential role for the nation. She couldn’t afford shoes for her children as the had to fork out £7000 to repair a tractor. Are we supposed to believe that these poor farmers with assets worth £3,500,000 can’t stretch their overdraft just a tiny bit further? (I’ve yet to see a farmer on a bicycle.) They claim to care for the environment; in my experience they poison anything they didn’t sow and shoot anything they didn’t rear (and those as well).
