The days of global empires by military dominance is over. We will all benefit from a multi polar world where disarmament is the mode of politics. Putin is intent on security for Russia, not expansion. If there had been no push to get NATO into Ukraine, right up to the Russian border in the most sensitive underbelly, there would be no war there.

Stagflation is nothing new in western economies. The current economic problems in Russia are of course one of the primary reasons the US provoked the war in the first place. As long as Wall Street continues to try to control the world economy, it will continue to try to destabilise China, Russia and indirectly, Europe. Loss of trade and loss of cheap gas has seriously hurt the German economy in particular. Russians are used to hard time.

Prosperity is exactly what I saw when I lived in Russia, while Britain in particular slid into decline. The solution for Ukraine in mutually guaranteed neutrality. If the US (pretending to be NATO) had agreed to this, there would have been no war. Russia needs secure buffer states, just as the US has. But unlike the US, she doesn’t demand hegemony, 183 military bases in foreign countries and a military budged greater than the next nine countries. If the US/NATO actually want an end to the war (this is a serious question) they will have to accept that Russia can not and will not allow Ukraine to join NATO.

Zelenskyy can end this war. Russia attacked because of the imminent threat of NATO advancing into Ukraine. Zelenskyy should meet with Putin and the European leaders and agree Ukrainian neutrality guaranteed by both Russia and Europe. No NATO = no war.

@ You’re right, it’s late, but still possible. I think Putin would agree, as neutrality of Ukraine is his aim, but Trump is likely to object as he won’t get the glory, and the tin pot idiot in Downing Street will call it a foul.
