  1. As ever, profit rules. It’s time for maritime authorities and insurers around the world to demand appropriate safety standards, such as bulkheads, smaller sealable compartments so that fire can be isolated and the free wash of water can be better controlled. This of course will be costly but if most (hopefully all) countries demand the same, these safety standards will be accepted.
