@David Bear in mind, it was more equal between the sexes back then than it is now. Women where never repressed. Yes, they didn't have control over matters, or the authority in the world, but then they wasn't responsible or accountable for these things, so they didn't get punished for failing, the men did. Now, The women have the authority, but they still are not accountable for their decisions now and blame men for things outside a man's control! Men are the second class citizens now and women call this equality and still want more.

The amount of times women keep saying men view them as objects. This is not true. Men care about what women think of them, because they don't see them as objects. The real reason women believe this, is because it's the women themselves who see men as objects, objects of resources and a tool to be used. It's these women who are unconsciously projecting their own sexism onto men. So they can convince themselves they are not the "bad" person when they exploit men.
