But rent control makes rent go up because you can't raise rent on a tenant that is already there, so if the owner needs to up rent because of inflation, new tenants have to pay a higher rent, which makes people just becoming adults poorer or less likely to rent because they simply can't afford it. I think you're wrong because of that. Price controls in the 70s stagnated the market as well.

  5. That just means people won't be building a retirement fund or saving for a bigger purchase like a house or car, which shouldn't count against anyone, especially since a lot of people would just spend it on crap they don't need if they are required to spend it, creating even more waste.
