  43. Well usually when people say they're proud of who they are, it's as a response to some idea of movement saying an identity is shameful. It's why gay pride is a thing and straight pride isn't, because the latter isn't really necessary. Race works basically the same way. Having light skin, dark skin, etc by itself isn't anything in particular to be proud of. It's about being proud in a world that tells you you're worth less because of that trait.
