@ohnoyoucantrustme5364 White people are more likely to get a housing loan when controlled for financial history. White people are less likely to be randomly pulled over or searched by police. White kids are more likely to have access to a good school and inherited wealth. And white people in the USA, despite the country being a mix of many different cultures and ethnicities, are regarded as the "norm" in ways that are usually small and insignificant on their own but add up. Facial recognition tech is developed with white people in mind. Bandaids are beige by default.
Bear in mind that white privilege doesn't mean that white people didn't earn anything, or never face poverty or adversity. Or that it's about hating white people. It's just about being cognisant of the fact that some people have certain hurdles to jump that others don't have to. And also bear in mind that white privilege isn't the only kind of privilege, there's lots of different kinds of privilege, like being able-bodied, or neurotypical, or cisgender, or male, or attractive, or part of your area's dominant religion.
