  27.  @crate249  The Spanish flu was named that because the media was forced to underrepresent the amount of cases in the US, UK, Germany, and France, in order to keep morale up during the first World War. They were free to report on the situation in Spain, which gave rise to a false notion that it was especially prevalent there, or even originated there. Which it appears you've bought into as well. There's usually political reasons for insisting that a disease be named after a location. Reasons I strongly disagree with.

  37. Bernie's not that far left. Only by American standards, because the Overton Window (the range of political positions considered non-extreme) is extremely to the right in the US. The democratic party as a whole is pretty much center-right.
