  1. ps older ppl MIGHT not have to worry about it....we were vaxxed for smallpox when we were children. If smallpox / monkeypox really DO protect against each other, older ppl may be safe.

  2. the rumour is that the NIH and the lab in Wihan (yes, THAT lab in Wuhan) have been working on monkeypox lately. This MAY turn out to be a gift.....the rumour is also that monkeypox ....possibly mildly disfiguring, not lethal......may confer some immunity against Smallpox (really quite lethal, especially in a naive populaiton...ie one that hasn't had smallpox in a long time) Smallpox is still in this world, in test tubes in labs in the USA and Russia. If anyone drops one of those test tubes..... pa Monkeypox can be transmitted by fomites, btw...ie objects like using a towel that someone who has monkeypox has used, without boiling / bleaching it.
