@Ghryst Israel is rolling out a FOURTH jab. Apparently 3 haven't worked that well for them when it comes to Omicron. cheers anyways!

@stefaniecw8111 Omicron has apparently picked up a chunk of the cold virus (same viral family) according to DNA sequencers. The typical signs are runny nose, splitting headache and so tired!! Unlike before, you don't get a fever and you keep your senses of taste and smell. And it's milder...probably a lot of ppl will mistake it for a bad cold (except that tired feeling is like nothing you've ever felt before) Good luck to you and yours!!

ppl in the UK are older, fatter and richer than South Africans....i expect that many South Africans who can't afford hospitals are convalescing at home.

@lindabricker3143 after jab one and two they said it would be about 2 wks before you were fully protected. Jab 3 they've not said, but Israel...first country to vax....are rolling out jab 4, so it seems that jabs 1-3 didn't last. Also, they're still using the first wild virus...they haven't changed to ANY variants. They really should for Omicron, except by the time they get the vaccine made, (100-200 days) the wave will be long gone...Omicron transmits that quickly. Good luck!!

@mikestraveldiary no point...Lbegiss should be immune to Omicron after having it. And the vaccines are STILL being made with the original wild virus...they've not used any of the variants. By the time they do, (it takes over 100 days to make the vaccine, and then you have to test it) the Omicron wave will be long gone. All the best to you!!

@Ghryst you're just not as sick. In fact some ppl are asymptomatic, so they're happily spreading the virus without knowing it. All the best to you anyways!

@samsmith962 Australia....they've had really dreadful, harsh lockdown rules (til now) about ppl coming into and leaving the country. You can't enter Australia without being double vaxxed. Some Aussies have been stuck outside the country for almost 2 yrs now. New Zealand is pretty much as bad. All the best to you!!

@oKrazzer it's a piece of the virus and one that makes some ppl ill. I had a vaccine AFTER i had covid (the vax wasn't available then, and they didn't know how long natural immunity would last) and i was sicker than a dog after being vaxxed. it was actually worse than the covid, but only lasted half as long. Anecdotal evidence (found out later) is that ppl who have had covid before being vaxxed have worse reactions to the vaccine...not that there will be any studies on that. Cheers anyways!

@Ghryst cheers anyways is the British way of saying g'bye although it's bad news in some cases. It's short for Cheerio, but that looks too strange on social media. And this should come directly to you...you don't have to scroll through all those replies. cheers!!

@Hugh Shepherd depends. Medical phD;s can analyze material that they see like South African numbers, i expect. You're right, it irks me though...President Biden's wife calls herself a Dr as well. To us, the only Drs are ppl who wear a stethoscope around their necks and prescribe drugs. Best of holidays to you and yours!

@Ghryst different cultures, i guess. In our world it means cheery g'bye to you in spite of the bad news. Nothing about the other person being wrong. Cheerio!!

@737simviator the report in the newspapers in the States today is that Pfizer's current vax lasts about 10 weeks against Omicron and the protection wears right off. Cloth and paper masks don't work anyways....may be one reason that covid spreads so well (ppl think they're protected when they're not) Best of the holidays to you and yours!!

nope...can't vaxx our way out of this. Israel, first vaccinated country is now rolling out a FOURTH booster....which would seem to mean that 3 boosters haven't worked for them.

@johnm838 they started with the typical spacing of vaccines...almost all of them are 4 weeks apart....the first for antibodies to "prime" the system, the 2nd to provide long term immunity...which didn't happen well for the more vulnerable after all (immunity from the vaccines disappeared after 4-5 mos...the more vulnerable, the faster it left.) Pfizer's original tests showed that 3 wks was the best...for some reason 4 was better for Moderna. And you're right, i worded that badly....it's shot, booster, booster, booster. That's 4 in one year. Yikes!! All the best to you and yours!! (so will this mean they'll need 4 next year as well? The 3rd world will never get vaxxed at this rate! One mistake they're making is that the vaccines are STILL being made with the original wild virus....they didn't change them for any of the variants. They may really need to for Omicron, except by the time they "adjust " the vaccine, Omicron will have spread to everyone...it's that transmissible.)
