  1. an anti Monarchist accountant calculated how much the Royals cost the Uk vs how much they bring in for charity (this was just before Megs) He was shocked to find that the Royals brought in a HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS MORE for charities than they cost the taxpayer. Not to mention a BILLION or 2 in tourist dollars.....ppl do not go to the UK for the sparkling weather! cheers!

  3.  @DonutOfNinja  Americans LOVE ancient history and pomp and circumstance. The Brits would lose their pomp and circumstance without the Royals. (no Trooping of Colours for the Monarch, etc.) Castles would lose their meaning and crumble away. Cheers anyways! ps the hundreds of millions of pounds that the Royals raise for charity comes in handy as well. A chairwoman of quite a large charity said that she would MUCH rather have a sit down dinner at X pounds a plate with a junior Royal (Harry excluded) than ANY pop star....she said the Royals always show up, pop stars are quite unreliable. Plus the star may have been forgotten by the time 10 yrs have passed....NO one forgets dinner with a Royal!!
